Piedra Parada Climbing – Esquel

🧗‍♂️A rock colossus in the heart of wild Patagonia

Located in the mystical Cañadón de la Buitrera, about 42 km from National Route 25 and halfway between Esquel and Paso del Sapo, Piedra Parada is a hidden paradise for lovers of climbing, trekking, and immersion in wild nature.

This volcanic monolith of over 200 meters in height, solitary and majestic, rises in the middle of the Patagonian steppe like a geological beacon. Around it, the landscape reveals an ancient collapsed crater more than 25 km in diameter, now transformed into a canyon full of life, history, and silence.

🌍 Why visit Piedra Parada?

  • Trekking and hiking: The Cañadón de la Buitrera is ideal for low to medium difficulty walks. The main trail follows the dry riverbed, winding between giant walls, caves, and unique rock formations.
