"Blue" Patagonia Park – Comodoro
- By amadorjose
🌊An unspoiled coastline where the sea, the steppe, and biodiversity meet in their purest form.
At the transition between the Patagonian steppe and the South Atlantic, lies the Costa Azul, a natural and cultural corridor that forms part of the brand new Patagonia Azul Interjurisdictional Marine Coastal Park. This route immerses you in pristine coastal landscapes, abundant marine wildlife, and little-known historical sites, all with a focus on conservation and discovery.
🐬 What does the tour offer?
Coastal viewpoints: Strategic stops on cliffs, pebble beaches, and sheltered bays from which you can observe dolphins, sea lions, and, in season, right whales or humpback whales.
Seabird and migratory bird watching: The region is home to more than 60 species of birds, including cormorants, oystercatchers, terns, flamingos, and cauquenes.
Stop by in Camarones: Visit the picturesque coastal town, with its fishing history, seafood-based cuisine, and access to the Perón's Museum and the Fisherman's Monument.
"Huella Azul" Interpretive Trail: A short, easy hike along part of the protected coastline, with information panels on geology, flora, and marine fauna.
Lions Island (optional excursion): This imposing island, home to colonies of sea lions and birds, can be seen from the coast and visited by boat from Camarones Town (check availability and weather conditions).
